Brown, Olsommer to Host Community Paper Shredding and E-Recycling Event Aug. 22

HARRISBURG – Residents looking to get rid of their personal documents and old, unwanted electronics are encouraged to join Sen. Rosemary Brown (R- Lackawanna/Monroe/Wayne) and Rep. Jeff Olsommer (R-Wayne/Pike) at their Paper Shredding and e-Recycling event on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at Evergreen Elementary School, 739 Easton Turnpike, in Lake Ariel. 

Residents are asked to bring no more than three boxes of paper. Paper should be loose and not bundled, and binder clips should be removed.

The e-Recycling portion of the event is hosted in partnership with a third-party recycling company, Mamoth. Most of the items can be recycled free of charge; however, there are some items that will have a cost.

Some of free items include computers (laptops and desktop), smartphones, tablets, printers, office phones, video game consoles, modems, routers, cameras, DVD players, VCRs, audio/video equipment, wires and chargers, hard drives, memory cards, power tools and appliances. Other items, such as LCD monitors, window air conditioners, televisions and floor copiers can be disposed of for a nominal fee.

In addition, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office will be collecting expired and unwanted prescription drugs, American Legion Post 807 will be collecting worn and retired flags and the Lake Ariel Fire Company will be assisting with traffic control and item collection.
