Olsommer: Nearly $8 Million for Key Improvement Projects Coming to the 139th Legislative District
July 17, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jeff Olsommer (R-Wayne/Pike) today is announcing $7.8 million has been allocated to four improvement projects within the 139th Legislative District. This funding is provided through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which aims to bolster economic growth and enhance community resources.
“These investments in Pike and Wayne counties reflect the power of community vision and collaboration,” Olsommer said. “From expanding educational opportunities and strengthening local agriculture to enhancing health, wellness and compassionate cancer care, each project is a testament to what happens when we believe in and build a brighter future.”
The funding will support the following initiatives:
Pike County
• For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation: $2 million to partner with Woodloch Resort and construct the nation’s first cancer respite center. The For Pete's Sake Respite Center at Woodloch will transform cancer care in the northeast region and offer transformational respite experiences in the most scalable, sustainable, effective and efficient way possible.
• Wallenpaupack Area School District: $2.65 million will be used, in conjunction with Wayne Pike Career and Technical School, to address regional workforce gaps through adult education programs. It will boost economic development, provide digital access and support sustainability through energy-efficient design and green curriculum.
Wayne County
• Wayne County Agriculture Innovation Center: $1.9 million to construct a building that will be used as the county food pantry system hub. This project will provide opportunities for business expansion and new jobs and business development for local food producers that lack USDA certified spaces for value added or processing of fresh local grown foods.
• Wayne County YMCA: $1.25 million for a phased construction project that will include general construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and fire protection to the current facility.
RACP is a Commonwealth grant initiative overseen by the Office of the Budget, designed to support projects that contribute to regional economic, cultural, civic and recreational development.
