HARRISBURG – Rep. Jeff Olsommer (R-Pike/Wayne) issued the following statement after his “no” vote on House Bill 2370:

“Year after year, it seems our students are used as political pawns in the education funding debate. I think the taxpayers and students deserve better.

“Commonwealth Court found Pennsylvania’s system to fund public schools to be unconstitutional, yet this bill does not include any way to quantify how the additional funding will improve student performance. It’s as if we are signing a blank check and expecting nothing in return for our investment.

“I support public education and I support the public school system; however, the funding conversation must address that education is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and we need to keep an open mind on solutions, and choices, that will benefit the future successes of our children.”
